Grid computing standards

I've been reading up on some Grid computing standards lately, and these fall in two categories- those that deal with Grid computing as such, and those that integrate Web services and Grid computing.

I listed the Web service standards in an earlier post. The former (i.e. the Grid computing standards) are being defined by a body called the Global Grid Forum (GGF). The website where standardization work-in-progress documents are stored is the GGF GridForge. This body is trying to define standards in seven areas:

  • Applications and Programming Model Environments
  • Architecture
  • Data
  • Information Systems and Performance
  • Peer-to-Peer
  • Scheduling and Resource Management
  • Security
