After posting a glossary of kinds for Web service standards yesterday, I realized that I had missed out on management standards.
This is an area where a lot of consolidation is happening, such as Oblix buying Confluent (last month) and HP buying Talking Blocks (Sept 2003). Interesting though- given Confluent's pedigree (ex-HP staff), I'd have thought HP would have been a more natural match. Hmmm :-)
Wonder how the other small(er) companies in Web service Management- Infravio and Actional will fare, given that this is an area that IBM, HP and others are deeply interested in.
Coming back to standards- there is HP's offering to OASIS- Web Services Management Framework (WSMF). However, IBM and others seem to be going their own way on WS Management standardization with WS-Manageability
